RHB Bank Pledges to Grow its Presence in Cambodia

RHB Banking Group, a major Malaysian bank, has stated its firm commitment to making its presence in Cambodia even stronger and bigger.

This promise was made by Mr. Danny Quah Boon Leng, RHB’s Managing Director of International Business, during a meeting in Phnom Penh yesterday with H.E. Mrs. Chea Serey, the Governor of the National Bank of Cambodia (NBC).

During the discussion, Mr. Quah highly praised Cambodia’s advancements in financial technology, especially the progress being made with the Bakong payment system. He also confirmed that RHB is dedicated to helping train and develop skilled staff for Cambodia’s banking sector.

In response, Governor Chea Serey thanked RHB for their ongoing commitment. She encouraged the bank to focus its support on key areas of the Cambodian economy, such as agriculture, processing raw farm goods (agro-industry), and manufacturing (making finished products).

She also gave the RHB team an update on Cambodia’s positive economic outlook, highlighted how strong and stable the country’s banking system is, and emphasized the importance of ensuring clear and honest financial practices.
